SSH Telnet
Need to know what Telnet is and what it is used for?
Secure Shell, better known as SSH, is a cryptographic network protocol employed to execute commands on a remote web server or to exchange info between a hosting server and a client. Due to the fact that the info exchanged by the two sides is encoded, a third party can't intercept it, which makes SSH a preferred means of controlling a website hosting account. The commands that could be executed depend on the type of hosting service. On a shared server, for example, the alternatives are limited as you shall not have root access to the machine, so you can simply create/move/delete files, set up and unpack archives, export and import databases, and so forth. These are all actions that are carried out in the shared hosting account and do not need a higher level of access. Through a virtual or a dedicated server, you shall have the option to set up server-side software or to restart the web server or only a certain service (web server, database server, etc.). SSH commands are submitted with a command line, and if you don't employ a UNIX-like OS, there are a variety of apps for other OSs, that you can employ to connect to the remote web server as well.

SSH Telnet in Shared Website Hosting
If the
shared website hosting plan that you’ve chosen through the signup process comes with SSH access by default, you shall be able to activate this function with only a click inside your Hepsia CP. If you have picked a different package, the SSH access feature can be included via the Upgrades menu and it will become available instantly. All the information that you need to connect shall be conveniently listed in the SSH section of the CP - the hostname, the username and the port number. You may also set what password to use from the same spot and you'll be able to modify it anytime. All commands that are allowed are listed in the Help articles that we've prepared for you, along with examples of the syntax that you have to use. An additional advantage of allowing SSH access to your account is that you'll be able to upload files via an SFTP connection.

SSH Telnet in Semi-dedicated Hosting
If you have a
semi-dedicated server account with our company, you will be able to receive SSH access to it with a click from the corresponding section of the Hepsia hosting Control Panel, supplied with all accounts. If your plan doesn't support this feature by default, you'll be able to add it with ease through the Upgrades menu. Once you go to the SSH section, you shall find the details which you need to connect to the server via a command line or a desktop app - the server/host, the port number, the username and the password. The latter can be updated at any time, if required. These login credentials are also required if you want to upload files via a secure connection and you want to use SFTP, which is also part of the SSH access service that we offer. An extensive list of the commands which you can perform shall offer you a better idea of what tasks you could perform in your account and each is accompanied by a number of instances of the syntax.

SSH Telnet in VPS
The
virtual private server packages we offer feature SSH access as standard, not as an additional upgrade or a feature which you have to enable. As soon as your new server is prepared, you will be able to connect and begin working on your content via the login details that you've entered through the order procedure. A copy of the SSH credentials will be sent to you via e-mail as well. As your VPS will be isolated from the other ones on the physical web server, there aren't any limitations as to what you can or cannot do via SSH. You are able to download, install and manage any piece of software that will run on a Linux machine, reboot the entire server or simply a specific software component, and work with files, folders and databases with virtually no restrictions. All you'll need for this is a console or an SSH client on your end.
